2-day MAGICAL STATES WORKSHOP
in Kingston, NY
March 25 - 26, 2017
Magick Basics – What is magick and what can we do with it? How do we create ritual and ritual frames? How are states of consciousness important in magick and ritual?
Altered States – What makes a state useful? How do we notice and calibrate state changes? Can we recreate or access states through hypnosis?
States and Entities – What is the connection between states and entities such as gods, demons, angels, imaginary friends, and servitors? How do we use states to contact and communicate with entities?
Advanced Techniques of State Control – How do magicians use entheogens, meditation, dreaming, ritual and other techniques?
Cannabis - The use of the herb has been so closely associated with magick and mysticism, it deserves its own discussion. Was cannabis at the origins of magick? What place did it play in the history of magical traditions? What is it about this plant that makes it so conducive to ritual work?
Ritual Design and True Will
- How do we use techniques of magick and state control to create the
life and world that we want?
This is a practical, experiential course (of course, only legal experiments will be encouraged). Most of us have some opinions or beliefs about magick – let’s test those ideas out in controlled ways. Make Uncle Al proud: come prepared to participate! (And, actually, neither lab coats nor ceremonial robes will be necessary – the only prerequisite or preparation will be your willingness to experiment!)
The 2-day Live Workshop
will offer a chance to explore trance, hypnosis, meditation and other
altered state technique with Philip H. Farber in a supportive, safe
2-day Live Workshop: $250.00 USD
(Includes workshop registration only. Transportation and lodging remains your responsibility, though we will help with suggestions and information as much as we can!)
Philip H. Farber is the author of Meta-Magick: The Book of Atem – Achieving New States of Consciousness Through NLP, Neuroscience and Ritual (Weiser Books, 2008), Brain Magick: Exercises in Meta-Magick and Invocation (Llewellyn Worldwide, 2011), and other books. “Philip H. Farber has once again shown where magick meets the brain.” – Richard Bandler, co-founder of NLP
“[This is] the first magick manual entirely contemporary with modern science and the only one that will really prepare the student for life in the 21st Century.” – Robert Anton Wilson, author Cosmic Trigger and Illuminatus
"Phil Farber has a genius for transformative edu-tainment. His writing captures the warmth and liveliness of his workshops because multisensory experiential processes are part of every page." --Iona Miller, co-author of The Modern Alchemist
"Meta-Magick is a brilliant and patently original book of magical instruction that future generations will revere as an 'ancient classic.'" -- Lon Milo DuQuette, author of My Life with the Spirits and Enochian Vision Magick
"The intent of Farber's ongoing literary sigil is to move his readers beyond the practice of individual magicks into the shared space of collective, consensual hallucination.... Farber quickly branches out in new directions - casting a visionary world picture as if it were a guide book, a description and instruction manual to a realm that is quite literally created in the process of its depiction and subsequent imagination." - Douglas Rushkoff, author of Coercion and Media Virus
